My goal is to make your weeknight dinners quick, easy and delicious
As a busy mum and professional I found the nightly question of what to make for dinner a bit of a drag.
I wanted to make easy, delicious, healthy and quick dinners, without having to scroll through hundreds of recipe sites, or search for hard to find ingredients, or buy new ingredients every night.
I'm all about quick and easy dinners
After a long day, anything that can make dinner easier to achieve is a win in my book.
On this site you will find recipes that:
- Can be made in half an hour
- Use easy-to-find ingredients
- Have step-by-step instructions with photos
- Ingredients under each step (so you're not flicking back and forth)
And meal plans to really make your life easier!
I created The Dinner App to seriously improve your weeknight experience.
- Instead of spending mental energy thinking about what to make (every night), it's all planned out for you.
- You only buy what you need, so you save time and money at the supermarket, and can do your shop in one go.
- You're not throwing out leftover produce at the end of the week.
You can use this website as a place to find dinner recipes as and when you need them, or you can sign up to The Dinner App and use weekly meal plans to really transform your weeknight dinners.
Either way I hope to help make your weeknight dinners quick, easy, simple and delicious.
What you can expect
Simple, Quick and Easy recipes - Weeknight dinners are the name of the game. When you're a bit tired, already hungry, and possibly have a child running around your legs, the last thing you feel like is pulling out hefty equipment or making things that take longer than half an hour. You can get our recipes on the table, fast, and the photos make it really easy to follow along.
Delicious and Tasty food - If you're going to take the time to cook, you want it to taste delicious. Our recipes are tried and tested. My mum, Kay Francis, is a food writer and helps me with editing recipes; and I've got two very fussy taste-testers at home (a toddler, fussy?). If a recipe doesn't work, I redo it.
Seasonal, Fresh and Healthy food - When you buy produce in season you get it at its best, and at the best price. Our weekly meal plans use the best of what's available at the moment, and our recipes are packed with fresh vegetables.
Family friendly recipes - I'm a big believer in making one dinner for everyone. That's why I share adaptations you can make to make dinners a bit more appealing for little ones. From saving seasoning to the end, to how it's presented, or serving up different elements separately, I'll give you recipe-specific tips to make your food work for everyone.
Guidance on substitutions - I share guidance and ideas on how to make recipes suitable for vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free, but these are modification guides only. If you live with these dietary requirements you are the expert. Please make the recipes your own and adapt as you see fit - I'd love to see what you do.
What you won't get
Time consuming recipes with tricky techniques or equipment - I love cooking projects, but save them for the weekend. Weeknights are about finishing the day and relaxing over an easy meal.
Recipes that use "light" or "diet" ingredients - I use traditional and healthy cooking techniques, and believe that anything you make at home will have a lot less salt, sugar and fat than your average takeaway or restaurant meal. I focus on using lots of fresh vegetables and healthy whole grains, but occasionally use butter or cream too. For me, healthy dinners are all about balance.
