Honey Garlic Beef is a classic and a favourite for a reason. Your family will love this easy recipe and you’ll have it on the table in no time.

I was craving a sticky beef recipe that had some lovely sweetness to it, so I added grated sweet potato to really enhance the sweetness of the beef, and then avocado and peas balance out the flavours.

Honey Garlic Beef Noodles Ingredients
In the honey garlic beef sauce we'll use grated sweet potato and caramelise it to make it sticky and gooey with beef stock, soy sauce, honey and garlic. I use plain or light soy sauce for this recipe.
Steak use either rump, sirloin or flank.
For greens, I used avocado and frozen baby peas. You could use these or any other veggies that are in season and available.
Noodles - I used egg noodles, but you can use rice noodles or soba noodles, whichever you prefer. You can also use rice.
How to make Honey Garlic Beef Noodles
1. Put a saucepan or pot of water on to boil for the noodles and boil a cup of water in the kettle.
2. Peel and grate sweet potato. Peel and chop garlic. Peel, deseed and cube avocado. Add boiling kettle water to frozen peas in a small bowl and set aside.
- ½ sweet potato
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 avocado
- 1 cup frozen baby peas
3. In a jar or small container mix together honey, beef stock and soy sauce. Put any remaining beef stock into the saucepan and it will add a nice flavour to our noodles.
TIP: A jar is useful because you can shake it vigorously and the honey will mix well.
- ⅓ cup honey
- ½ cup beef stock
- 3 tablespoon soy sauce
4. Dice beef into bite-size pieces, then toss in cornflour and salt.
- 500g steak
- 3 tablespoon cornflour
- 1 teaspoon salt
5. Add noodles to boiling water and cook according to packet instructions, then drain.
- 200g egg noodles
6. Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan until very hot then cook beef for one minute on each side, only turning once.
TIP: Be careful as hot oil may spit from the pan. Make sure no one else is too close to the pan.
- 3 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 500g steak
7. Remove beef to a plate, drain excess oil from the pan, then add garlic, stirring until fragrant. Add grated sweet potato and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- 2 garlic cloves
- ½ sweet potato
8. Add the sauce, simmer until it thickens, then return the beef to the pan and mix through.
9. Serve honey garlic beef on top of noodles, top with peas and avocado, drizzle over sesame oil and sprinkle sesame seeds.
Serve little ones their elements separately if they prefer - noodles, greens and beef.
- 1 avocado
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Top tip
I love using jars to mix sauces and dressings. Simply add a lid and shake vigorously - it's way more satisfying than whisking and you can be sure you'll mix everything really well together.

- Alternative Protein - You could swap Beef for chicken or diced pork to try something different.
- Vegetarian - instead of beef, use diced mushrooms.
