Satay Beef made even easier with a simple, four ingredient satay sauce of peanut butter, lime juice, dark soy sauce and brown sugar.

Satay Beef is so yummy, but sometimes it can be a bit time consuming. This recipe is your answer to that. It simplifies the sauce into a really easy FOUR INGREDIENT sauce, that means you can whip it up in no time.
What is Satay Beef made of?
Normally satay sauce is made of peanut butter, soy sauce, coconut milk, ginger and chilli. This version is made using just peanut butter, lime juice, dark soy sauce and brown sugar. We’ll whisk the ingredients together with water and they’ll form a delicious peanut sauce that has that lovely satay flavour, but without any fuss.
What is the best cut for Satay Beef?
When we make this beef we’re cooking it on a high heat, fast, which works best with more tender cuts of meat like eye fillet, scotch fillet.
If you want to cook beef low and slow (in a slow cooker, for example), then you can use a less expensive, less tender cut - but that’s not what this recipe calls for. That’s not to say this sauce wouldn’t work well in a slow cooker, it absolutely would, you’d just need to add more water or beef stock to the slow cooker.
Is Satay meant to be spicy?
This is entirely up to you. Traditionally, yes, satay beef includes chilli. I haven’t included it in this recipe, but you can add it to your satay sauce by whisking it through.
Is Satay Beef healthy?
Satay beef is healthy, but it does contain a lot of fat from the peanuts, so if you are aiming for a low calorie diet it’s probably best to avoid it. However, it is incredibly satiating so it will help you stay fuller for longer.
Top tip
When cooking beef, add the sauce right at the last minute and only cook long enough to stir it through.
